José M. de Anzizu
Born in Barcelona in 1933, studied Law at the University of Barcelona and then followed a number of programs on Economics and Social Sciences at the Universities of La Sorbonne and Strasbourg (France), Cambridge and City of London College (UK), Pisa (Italy) and Harvard (Center for International Affairs, USA). In 1972 he followed the PMD Program at Harvard Business School. Both in 1972 and again in 1984 he was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard and MIT, where he met Prof. Edgar Schein who was very influential in his approach to consultancy and organisational development.
As a consultat he has been collaborating with multinational as well as local companies on strategic and organisational matters. As a professor, he has been teaching in Spain (ESADE, IESE and EADA) and other European countries, Latin America and China. He has published a number of articles on managerial issues and edited two books of readings.
Besides his main activity as a consultant and teacher, he has been supervising a small real estate services firm founded in 1904 that he inherited in the mid seventies and where he put into practice, with success, his managerial and organisational theories.
Part of the profits that came from this firm were invested in the creation and early development of the Center for Organisational Studies.
He has always been very active in different sports (football, tennis, sailing, skiing, mountain climbing, golf and Pitch and Putt) both as a practitioner and as an officer.
